Can trench mouth cause teeth to fall out?

While trench mouth can lead to swelling, bleeding, pain and ulcers, teeth falling out is not a symptom, states Mayo Clinic. However, the resulting infections can force doctors to remove affected teeth permanently.

The infection that accompanies trench mouth can cause swelling in the lymph nodes of the jaw, neck and head; bad breath and a foul taste in the mouth; gums that turn red or develop a gray film; and ulcers that resemble craters on the gum and between the teeth, states Mayo Clinic. Because these symptoms can develop quickly, people with any of them should visit the dentist as soon as possible.
