Acrylic paint should not be used for face painting. It is not intended for prolonged skin contact. These paints have small amounts of ammonia and formaldehyde which can be irritating to the skin.
Only paints intended for skin should be used on faces. Care should be taken to keep paint out of the eyes. Excessive amounts of face paint irritate the skin. Certain people find any amount of the paint bothersome. Before fully using a new brand of face paint, check for a potential reaction. Put a small amount on your arm, and wait for a few days to see if there is any inflammation.
