Can you use foil instead of parchment paper?

Foil can be used instead of parchment paper when baking. However, additional steps are required in order to create a similar end result. Unlike foil, parchment paper is both heat-resistant and non-stick.
In order to prevent food from sticking, the top of the foil sheet should be greased. Since foil also yields a faster cooking time, a slight modification to the total cooking time may be required. The bottom of baked goods tend to be crispier when baked with foil, since parchment paper is designed to prevent browning. Foil can also be used to create a sealed pouch for food.
