What can I use instead of Worcestershire sauce?

There are several simple substitutes for Worcestershire sauce. Worcestershire sauce can be replaced with soy sauce, steak sauce, liquid smoke, red wine vinegar mixed with a dash of salt and fish sauce, or 1/4 teaspoon of sugar mixed with seven drops of jalapeño sauce.
Worcestershire sauce has a salty and fermented taste and is often used as a seasoning on meat and fish. The original version is made by combining malt vinegar with salt, sugar, molasses, anchovies, spirit vinegar, tamarind extract, garlic, onions, spices and flavoring. Many people avoid using Worcestershire sauce due to its use of fish. While there are a number of quick substitutes for it, none of them will provide the exact same flavor.
