Can you use PS3 games on a PS4?

PlayStation 3 games cannot be played on the PlayStation 4 platform. Only discs made for the PlayStation 4 are compatible with the system.

Sony does offer gamers the opportunity to download a digital code when purchasing select PlayStation 3 games that can in turn be downloaded for play on the PlayStation 4 console. Once codes are downloaded, they can be saved until a digital copy of the game is available.

In order to download digital games players need to create a free account on the PlayStation Network. These digital copies are offered at a discounted price and codes may only be used one time.
