Can you use an SDHC card in a camera that uses an SD card?

Cameras made after 2008 should recognize and use SDHC cards. The camera's manual should confirm if it's SDHC compatible. SDHC cards are the same shape and dimensions as ordinary SD cards, but they have a larger storage capacity.

The acronym SDHC stands for Secure Digital High Capacity. The original SD card had a maximum storage capacity of 2 gigabytes, whilst the newer SDHC card has a capacity of up to 16 gigabytes. There is now a newer, larger capacity SD card, called SDXC. The XC in SDXC stands for Extended Capacity, and the storage capacity of an SDXC card is up to 2 terabytes.
