How can you use sea salt for piercings?

You can use sea salt to make a saline solution to clean and rejuvenate piercings. The sea salt solution is commonly used to clean and heal both new and infected piercings.
It is important to make the saline solution with the correct ratio of 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized sea salt to 1 cup of warm water. Incorrect ratios of salt to water can irritate the piercing further. For a new or infected piercing, soak the piercing at least once daily for five minutes until it heals. This can take up to two weeks, and if the piercing continues to be irritated, a visit to the doctor is recommended.
