Can you use toothpaste and a fluoride rinse?

According to the American Dental Association, it is generally safe for individuals over the age of six to use both toothpaste and a fluoride rinse. Children under the age of six may accidentally ingest excess amounts of fluoride if a fluoridated mouth rinse is swallowed.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that most individuals over the age of nine can tolerate as much as 10mg of fluoride per day without experiencing an adverse reaction. Fluoride strengthens teeth and helps prevent cavities, so using a fluoride rinse with a fluoridated toothpaste may reduce the risk of common, dental-related issues.
