Any type of drive can be write protected. Here is one of the simplest ways to remove write protection in Windows.
Open the Start menu, type "command," and then click "Command Prompt." Type the code "diskpart" in the space provided and press Enter. Then, type "list volume" and press Enter. Next, type "select volume" with the number of the drive that needs formatting. After that, type "attributes disk clear readonly," press Enter, type "exit," and then press Enter again.
