Can you work while collecting disability payments?

Individuals may work while receiving disability benefits, according to the Social Security Administration. Benefits are reduced, however, for individuals younger than full retirement age exceeding the yearly earnings limit.
For those under full retirement age for the entire year, $1 is deducted from benefit payments for every $2 earned above the designated annual limit.
In the year the claimant reaches full retirement age, $1 is deducted for every $3 earned above the limit, but only monthly earnings prior to retirement age are counted.
Those at retirement age for the entire year are entitled to the full benefit amount with no limit on annual earnings.
