What types of arthritis qualify you for disability payments?

The Social Security Administration accepts many different conditions, including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, according to Arthritis Self-Management. The stipulation is that the applicant's medical records must prove his condition is severe enough to limit his ability to work.
An individual may be eligible for Social Security benefits if his arthritis condition prevents him from working in any capacity or earning an amount above the Social Security-earning threshold, says Arthritis Self-Management. The condition must keep the individual from performing the job he had held previously, last or already have lasted for at least one year, and the condition must be life-threatening.
