A canvasser is an informer, salesperson or interviewer who walks door-to-door informing the public about specific services, goods, charitable causes and political efforts. Private companies, nonprofit groups, government entities and political groups use canvassers to gather and distribute information and solicit donations.
A canvasser must have good communication skills and marketing knowledge relevant for persuading people to buy a product or support a cause. Job duties of a canvasser vary depending on the work type and the organization. A canvasser may be required to present information materials for a product or a cause and help people fill surveys and questionnaires.
