According to Motor Trend, their 1976 car of year choice was the 1976 Dodge Aspen R/T. The Aspen featured a 360ci engine and its 0 to 60 mph time resembled that of a L82 Corvette.

The Dodge Aspen used an F-body design, which was the successor to the A-body chassis. It featured a suspension improvement from its earlier model, grille blackout trim and wider wheels. The 170 horsepower engine managed a 17.4 second quarter mile and 60 to 95 mph run in just under 14 seconds. The car only managed an average of 15 miles per gallon. Production for the Dodge Aspen ceased in 1980 and was replaced instead with the Dodge Aries.
