A driver can tell if their car bearings are going bad by rocking the tire. A noise while driving does not always indicate a bad bearing.
A noise in the wheel area can be caused by many things other than a bearing. This includes bad tires or wheels.
- Lift the car
- Rock the tire
Users should lift the car with a jack to keep the tire in question off the ground.
Placing their hands in the 12 and 6 o'clock positions, users should try to rock the tire back and forth. If their is play in the tire, the bearings need to be replaced.
