Care for a rubber tree plant by placing it in a good location, watering it well, cleaning its leaves, fertilizing it regularly and repotting as necessary. You need fertilizer, a soft cloth, a pot and a catch tray.
- Place the plant in a good location
Place the rubber tree plant in a location that receives partial sun or plenty of indirect sunlight. If placed outside, it needs to receive shade during the afternoon. The temperature needs to range between 65 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Water the rubber tree well
Water the plant when the soil starts to feel dry. Place it in a catch tray and add water until it seeps from the pot's drainage holes. Water it less often during the winter. Avoid splashing the foliage, as this can stain the leaves.
- Clean the leaves
Clean off dust and water stains from the rubber tree plant. Carefully wipe down the leaves with a damp cloth.
- Fertilize the plant
Fertilize with a water-soluble solution every two to four months.
- Repot the tree
Repot the rubber tree plant once the roots start to grow from the pot's drainage holes. Use a pot that is at least 2 inches larger in diameter.
