Where is the Caribbean located on a map?

The Caribbean Sea, an oceanic area located in the Western and Northern hemispheres, is found north of South America, east of Central America, and south of the United States. The Caribbean stretches from the Yucatan Peninsula to Puerto Rico, and down to Venezuela, and borders the Gulf of Mexico.

The Caribbean Sea was discovered and began to be mapped by Cristoforo Colombo in the 15th century. The approximate perimeter of the Caribbean is made up of a wide variety of island chains; some of its most well known island destinations are Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Cayman Islands.
