Are Carrier air conditioners energy efficient?

Several models of Carrier residential air conditioner in production as of 2015 are certified as energy efficient by the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute. Many of these models are also certified as Energy Star-compliant by the Department of Energy.

Carrier air conditioning units with Energy Star certifications are highly efficient, with most having Seasonal Effective Efficiency Ratings of 14.5 or 15. Some units have SEER ratings of 16 or more, with the most efficient model having a SEER of 18. This is sufficient to qualify this model of Carrier air conditioner as a Tier 3 high-efficiency system, according to the Consortium for Energy Efficiency ranking system.
