What cars make the best use of gasoline per mile?

Hybrid cars are generally more fuel-efficient than other types of cars, and the most fuel efficient hybrids, as of 2015, are the Honda Civic, the Honda Accord, the Toyota Prius plug-in, the Toyota Prius C and the Toyota Prius. These vehicles run an average of over 45 miles per gallon.

For the 2015 model year, the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid vehicles are the Dodge Dart, Ford Fiesta, Toyota Corolla, Fiat 500 and Mitsubishi Mirage, all of which run over 40 miles per gallon. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency tests the fuel efficiency of new vehicles under different circumstances, the two most prominent of which are highway fuel efficiency and city fuel efficiency.
