What are carving patterns?

Carving patterns are design templates to use when carving wood, pumpkins or items that can be carved with a knife, tool or chainsaw. Carving patterns are typically made of cardstock or paper and can be placed on the structure to sketch the pattern before carving.

When carving, crafters tape the design template to the structure and etch out the design with a marker or small carving tool. Carving patterns are available in a variety of designs including animals, logos, flowers, landscape features such as waterfalls or forest scenes, 3-D animations and flags. Other options include images of people or faces, knots, symbols, mythology figures and personalized lettering.
