As of 2015, the CAT ferry no longer operates between Bar Harbor, Maine, and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The ferry service from Portland, Maine, is also discontinued. Visitors to Nova Scotia have the option to take a ferry from Saint John, New Brunswick or Wood Island, Prince Edward Island.

The CAT was a high-speed catamaran owned by Bay Ferries. It traveled through the Gulf of Maine until 2009, when it ended due to financial difficulties. The CAT offered on-board dining plus a casino that operated while the ferry was in international waters. Passengers could travel from Maine to Nova Scotia in less than three hours on the CAT.
