What causes calcium deposits on your face?

Calcium deposits on the face are often caused by autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis, sclerodema and lupus. In some cases, a failing or malfunctioning kidney can cause calcium deposits.
Calcium deposits can also be caused by facial perspiration, facial tumors or joint injuries. When the thyroid gland is overstimulated, calcium deposits may appear on the face because of excess production of phosphates and calcium within the body. Bone-related tumors, Paget's disease and bone cancers often cause calcium deposits to appear on the face when the diseases are in the early stages. Absorbing too much vitamin D through sun exposure or oral intake can also contribute to calcium deposits.
