What are some of the causes of droopy eyelids?

Droopy eyelids can be caused by a number of diseases that affect nerve and muscle reactions. Some of these conditions include aging, stroke, cancer and diabetes. Depending on the cause, drooping eyelids may be corrected with treatment for the condition or stiffened with cosmetic surgery.
A drooping eyelid is easiest to detect when it takes place in only one eye and can be compared to the other. A person who appears permanently tired may have drooping eyelids, and he or she will often try to see by furrowing the eyebrows or by looking up. A doctor should be contacted if a drooping eyelid limits one's vision, closes on its own or appears along with other problems like double vision.
