According to the Cleveland Clinic, sleepwalking can be caused by genetics, lack of sleep or extreme fatigue, inefficient sleep, various medications, stress, anxiety, going to bed with a full bladder, a noisy sleep environment, or a different sleep environment. Sleepwalking is common in children.
The Cleveland Clinic states that sleepwalking most often occurs within the first 1 to 2 hours of falling asleep and that episodes can last between 5 and 15 minutes. People who sleepwalk tend to have no memory of the event and may do a variety of things besides walking, such as sleep talking, tugging on their pajamas or urinating in places other than the bathroom.
