Celebrate St. Andrew's Day by going to a commemorative event and enjoying traditional Scottish food. This holiday, which celebrates Scotland, occurs on Nov. 30 and lasts the entire day, although many events run for several days.
- Enjoy some Scottish singing and dancing
Go to a ceilidh, which is a social event that features traditional Scottish music and dancing. Watch the professionals demonstrate their craft or join in the dancing yourself.
- Watch some golf
Watch some golf, a popular sport in Scotland. During St. Andrew's Day, the St. Andrews versus the Rest of the World tournament takes place on the New Course.
- Go to one of the many festivals
Go to a Scottish festival. Festivals that occur in Scotland on St. Andrew's day include the Festive Lights Switch On, The Old Course Hotel Christmas Emporium and the Royal and Ancient Open Day.
- Go to church services
Go to church services at the Holy Trinity Church. If you are not fortunate enough to be at St. Andrews during this holiday, go to church services at your local establishment.
- Eat traditional Scottish cuisine
Eat Scottish cuisine or make your own Scottish dinner. Some traditional dishes include crusted haddock, roast shoulder of lamb and spiced winter fruit with rice pudding.
