A celiac artery blockage is a condition where the diaphragm's muscular fibrous band compresses the celiac artery and blocks the blood supply to the upper abdominal organs, according to Baylor College of Medicine. People with a celiac artery blockage experience abdominal pain that can last for several months.

Additional symptoms of a compressed celiac artery include weight loss and abdominal pain following meals, explains Baylor College of Medicine. A consultation with a physical or vascular surgeon is recommended if symptoms exist. A blocked celiac artery is surgically treated by releasing the constraining ligament after an incision is made in the upper abdomen.
