Do certain foods influence arthritis?

Certain foods can either alleviate or exacerbate arthritis, according to the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Foods high in antioxidants, such as uncooked vegetables, help to prevent and alleviate arthritis, while foods rich in iron, such as meat, offer minimal amounts of vitamins C and E and can be problematic for arthritis sufferers.
Some of the best foods for reducing the inflammation and pain associated with arthritis are sardines, matcha (powdered green tea leaves) and broccoli, as listed on the Arthritis Foundation website. Sardines are useful because of their high vitamin D content, which aids in calcium absorption and the strengthening of bones.
