What is a champagne diamond?

A champagne diamond is either a white diamond that has a yellow tint to it or a yellow-brownish diamond that has very light coloring. A tinted white diamond isn't as valuable as a clear white diamond, and the champagne title is used as a marketing tactic to increase appeal.

A diamond that is yellow or brown in color can be heated to lighten the color of the diamond and is often worth more money than the tinted white diamond. The cost for a champagne diamond is determined by the cut, color and quality, just like all other diamonds and gems.
