Some types of traditional Hawaiian art include kapa, a type of colored fabric made by pounding the wood of the mulberry plant, and lauhala, the practice of weaving leaves together into baskets or pots. Other forms of artwork unique to Hawaii include hulu manu, the weaving together of colored feathers to make clothing and other adornments, as well as a form of intricate woodcarving from koa wood, which is used traditionally in the making of canoes and tikis.
