White-tailed deer have tan-colored coats in the summer that fade to greyish-brown in the winter with white points around the eyes, throat, stomach, nose and tail. Bucks grow new antlers each year and weigh between 150 and 300 pounds. Does weigh between 90 and 200 pounds.
The white-tailed deer lives in wooded areas throughout the United States and southern Canada. The deer's stomach has four chambers, which allows it to eat a diet consisting of leaves, twigs, fruit, nuts and lichen. The deer also eat corn and alfalfa when available. Does give birth to fawns in May or June each year, and have one to three offspring. Fawns are reddish-brown with white spots.
