A charging system diagram is a pictorial representation of the components of a vehicle's charging system, their arrangement and the wiring involved. The main elements of the charging system include the battery, alternator and regulator.
The purpose of a charging system is to maintain the charge in a vehicle's battery and act as the primary source of electrical energy when the engine is running. The alternator acts as a generator that produces alternating current and converts it to direct current. The regulator regulates the charging voltage generated by the alternator to protect the electrical components in the vehicle from brownouts and power surges.
