A chest X-ray can be used to diagnose TB. The X-ray is often used if a person is displaying the symptoms of the disease, according to WebMD.
TB, short for tuberculosis, is a bacterial infection that mainly affects the lungs. It is highly contagious and spreads through the air, states the Center for Disease Control. Some symptoms of TB include fatigue, cough, coughing up blood and chest pain. If not treated, the condition can be life threatening. Skin tests can be performed to determine if a person has ever had the disease. Treatment of TB can last for several months.
