What is a chicken's habitat?
By Forinfos - 21/04/2026 - 0 comments
Wild chickens exist in the forests of India and South East Asia, while captive chickens live in chicken coops. Wild chickens roam the forest floor for bugs and sleep up in the trees at night to avoid predators. Captive chickens will become territorial and return to a provided coop at night.
A chicken coop should have walls and a door for the chickens to enter and exit at will. A chicken coop should be protected from various weather elements and predators such as dogs, cats and coyotes. A roosting bar is important so that the chickens can sleep up high and nesting chickens need laying boxes to lay eggs.
