According to About, Christopher Columbus's wife's name was Felipa Perestrello. The couple lived together in Lisbon, Portugal. The couple met after Columbus swam to the Portuguese shore when the ship from his first voyage in 1476 was burned at sea.
Christopher and Felipa had a son, Diego, born around 1480. Felipa died in 1485, and Columbus and his son moved to Spain after her death. Columbus soon began to explore the possibilities of establishing trade routes by sailing west to get to the Far East. Before he left for his famous 1492 voyage, his affair with mistress Beatriz Enriquez de Arana produced another son, Fernando.
