According to WebMD, chronic or frequent nosebleeds are nosebleeds that recur two to three times in one month. Colds and allergies, trauma, low humidity, chronic illness and a reaction to medication are common causes of nosebleeds, according to HealthyChildren.org.

Home treatments for nose bleeds are to remain calm, tilt the head slightly forward, pinch the lower half of the nose and hold it firmly for ten minutes, explains HealthyChildren.org. Check to see if the bleeding has stopped and if it has not, pinch the nose again. If the bleeding persists, an evaluation at an emergency room is necessary. A common way to prevent nosebleeds is to use a nasal spray or run a humidifier to prevent nasal drying.
