How do you cite a court case?

A court case is usually cited as follows: The name of the case, the name of the source, the case law and the publication date of the case. Citations can vary depending on the state and court that decision was rendered in.

If the document is using in-text citation, meaning that quotes or excerpts from the court case are part of the document, the court case must be cited right after the reference is printed. This citation would be placed alongside the in-text reference. Otherwise, your document may just include a reference page, where all of the referenced cases would be indicated.
