What cities have the highest HIV rate?

Within the United States, the nation's capital - Washington, D.C. - had the highest rate of HIV infection in 2011, according to the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. Other metropolitan areas like Los Angeles, New York, and Miami also topped the list for having high infection rates.

It was estimated in 2014 that around 1.1 million people in the U.S. had HIV, according to the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation. The rate of infection was prominent in a handful of states. In 2011, for instance, it was reported that 10 states accounted for 65 percent of all HIV diagnoses that year. The top states for infection included California, Florida, Texas, New York and Georgia.
