A high MPV level can indicate that a person has thrombocythemia, as stated by the University of Rochester Medical Center. This condition means that the body has too many blood platelets.
When a person has this condition, they may suffer from headaches, dizziness, vision changes, numbness of limbs or tingling. Treatment is not always required, according to Mayo Clinic. The condition is often diagnosed through a complete blood count.
MPV stands for Mean Platelet Volume. Some diseases that can cause thrombocythemia include certain cancers, such as lymphoma, kidney failure and severe infections. Only a doctor can diagnose the condition and offer treatment options.
