What city has the best tap water in America?

While tests for the best tap water in America remain relatively subjective, there are many official tests held regularly to determine which city has the best tap water in America. The contenders for the best tap water are Curtis, Neb., Santa Ana, Calif., and Kaunakakai and Hilo, Hawaii.

The Great American Taste Test organized by The National Rural Water Association picked Curtis as its winner for 2014, in recognition of its overall taste, clarity and fragrance. Arthur von Wiesenberger chose Santa Ana in the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting for its appearance, aroma, taste, mouth feel and aftertaste. For a more scientific approach, the research company Purdex rates drinking water by its purity. In 2013, Kaunakakai and Hilo tied for first place with a Purdex score of 933.
