CLA is a supplement and diet aid that has been proven to be effective at promoting fat loss in a clinical trial conducted on humans. CLA stands for conjugated linoleic acid, a form of essential fatty acid that is found in animal fats. Western diets are usually deficient in CLA.
Researchers in Norway conducted a trial in which one group was fed a placebo and the other group was given CLA supplements. Both groups were told not to adjust their diet. At the end of the trial, both groups weighed the same, but the group taking CLA supplements had seen improvements in their body composition and had less body fat.
