A Class 1 driving license in the United States is only used in Connecticut and South Dakota. A Class 1 driving license refers to a non-commercial motor vehicle in Connecticut and a car, light truck or other non-CDL vehicle in South Dakota. Class 1 is more widely used in Canada.

In the United States, driving licenses are categorized by state, and letters are often used. For example, many states use Class A, B, C and D. In Canada, numbers are more common. In Quebec, a Class 1 license refers to a heavy vehicle combination license, similar to a CDL used in the United States.
