What is the classic Y front on Jockey underwear?

The classic Y front on Jockey underwear is a design feature on some men's briefs that provides added support at the front of the groin as well as a flap opening. The design was originally launched in 1935 by Coopers clothing company.

The Y front design features elastic that runs vertically down from the waistband, splitting off into two elastics that form an upside-down "Y" shape over the groin. The placement of the elastic helps provide added support for male genitals. While Jockey was the first brand of underwear to use the Y front style, it has since been adopted by a number of men's underwear manufacturers.
