Clean floor grout by making a baking soda paste, applying it to the grout, scrubbing the grout, spraying tile cleaner on badly stained areas and rinsing the grout. This takes only a few minutes. You need baking soda, warm water, a bucket or bowl, a toothbrush, tile cleaner and a rag.
- Make a baking soda paste
Measure out 3 cups of baking soda, and pour it into a bowl. Combine this with 1 cup of warm water. Mix the two together until a paste forms.
- Apply the paste to the grout
Use your fingers or a putty knife to apply the paste to the grout. Be thorough, and work it into all the cracks. Spread the paste in small sections at a time. Clean the grout in one section before moving onto another section.
- Scrub the grout
Use an old toothbrush, and scrub the grout with the paste. Add more paste to the grout as needed.
- Treat badly stained areas
For badly stained areas, spray tile cleaner onto the grout. Allow it to soak for several minutes into the grout before scrubbing the area.
- Rinse the grout
Rinse the baking soda paste and tile cleaner from the grout using clean water and a rag or sponge.
- Dry the grout
Dry the water from the grout with a towel to keep the tiles free of water spots.
