How do you clean pavers?

Clean pavers by mixing an environmentally friendly, acid-free soap with water and scrubbing the stones. Rinse the pavers with a hose, being careful that you do not disturb the joint sand. Avoid use of pressure washers on pavers as the high-pressure stream erodes the pavers and joint sand.
- Mix the cleaning solution
Mix the cleaning solution with water per the manufacturer's directions. It can be rinsed away without damaging landscaping; however, if cleaning the pavers for special reasons such as effervescence or mold, you should choose other cleaners designed for these specific purposes. Such cleaners do cause damage to plants, so take precautions to protect them.
- Scrub the pavers
Dip a scrub brush into the solution, and wet the pavers. Use the brush to scrub the surface to remove the stains from the concrete. If cleaning a large paved area, consider using a rotary scrubber that does not cause as much damage to pavers and joints as a pressure washer does.
- Rinse the patio
Use a garden hose to rinse away the soap and dirt you remove. Direct a gentle stream onto the pavers so the soap rinses away without eroding the joint sand that holds the pavers in place.
