Clean tarnished silver by placing a piece of aluminum foil in the bottom of a kitchen sink, filling the sink with warm water and adding 2 tablespoons of salt. Immerse the silver, let it soak for three minutes, and rinse clean.
- Place a sheet of aluminum foil in the bottom of a kitchen sink
Put the stopper in your kitchen sink. Tear off a piece of aluminum foil about the same size as the sink, and use it to line the bottom.
- Fill the sink with warm water
Run warm water into the sink. Leave enough room to add your silver without overflowing the sink.
- Add 2 tablespoons of table salt
Pour 2 tablespoons of salt into the warm water. Swish it around to dissolve the salt.
- Put the silver pieces in the water
Immerse the silver in the salty water. Make sure the pieces are completely underwater and not touching each other.
- Soak for three minutes
Wait three minutes for the chemical reaction to remove the tarnish.
- Rinse the silver
Remove the silver from the water, and rinse it well. Silver with a lot of tarnish may require a second soak in the sink to remove all of the tarnish.
