How do you clean plated silver at home?

In many cases, diluting a few drops of dish soap in a sink full of warm water is sufficient to clean the tarnish from silver-plated items. After washing, dry the items with a soft cotton cloth. This method works best for objects with a minimal amount of tarnish.

Another method involves placing the items in an aluminum pan or a glass bowl lined with aluminum foil, then adding enough water to submerge the items. For each quart of water, add 1 tablespoon of baking soda. Let the items soak for 10 minutes. Each batch of items requires fresh water and baking soda.
