What is a Clear hotspot?

Clearwire Corporation was a provider of Internet service and a manufacturer of mobile Wi-Fi devices. A Clear hotspot was one of its mobile devices designed to provide local Wi-Fi without a phone line or cable connection.

As of 2014, mobile hotspots use cellular networks to provide a connection to the Internet. These connections require being within range of a 4G network. Clear formerly provided its own service, but it was acquired by Sprint. Its primary hotspot lines were the Apollo and Voyager. It also manufactured a combination mobile hotspot and Wi-Fi router called the Clear Hub Express. Devices made by Clear continue to work with the Sprint network as of 2014.
