What is a Colorado blue spruce?

The Colorado blue spruce is an evergreen tree native to the Rocky Mountain states of the United States. Its silver-blue needles give the tree its name. It grows up to 135 feet tall in the wild with a limb span of up to 30 feet.

The Colorado blue spruce is slow growing, usually adding less than a foot in growth each year. It has a pyramid shape with stiff, horizontal branches and dense needles that are sharp and stiff. It prefers full sunlight and loamy, moist soil but is adaptable to many conditions. The tree does not bear seeds until it is 20 years old.
