What are Comdata checks?

A Comdata check, also known as a Comchek, is a financial instrument that is used within the transportation industry by freight brokers and contract carriers. Comcheks are similar in nature to personal checks and are often used by transporters to pay vendors, give advances or purchase fuel.
Comcheks are used by shippers or brokers that have accounts with Comdata. These payers issue Comchecks and linked express codes to drivers or trucking companies, who then must call Comdata to receive express code authorization. After this authorization is initialized by Comdata, drivers are able to cash their Comcheks at participating truck stops or commercial banks.
