The fluid usually leaks due to cracks in the hoses and brake lines, and replacing the defective component is the recommended fix. Worn brake pads are the primary cause of screeching sounds and should be replaced to prevent the sounds. The inability for brakes to stop occurs temporarily due to the availability of grease on the rotors or pads. Rusted shoe adjusters can cause a low brake pedal, and this can be fixed by adjusting the rear drum brakes and cleaning the adjusters.
