An ethnic group is a collection of people defined by a common culture, making them differ from racial groups, which are commonly defined as having certain biological characteristics in common. Ethnic groups usually have a strong geographical component as well, as they are often used to refer to all the people that live in a given area and share some or all of a distinct set of cultural practices of that area.
